Calottes and Crimps

Calottes (also know as clam shells and bead tips) cover the knot at the end of a string of beads. They hide the thread end knot and provide a link to attach a clasp to. Crimps are small metal beads that are crimped (squeezed) on to a thread and hold beads in place to make illusion type jewellery or can be used at a necklace ends to hold clasps in place

Gimp

Gimp (also know as french wire and bullion). This is a very finely coiled wire that forms a flexible tube like a spring. Traditionaly it is used for finishing the ends of strung jewellery pieces. It gives a professional look and protects the bead cord from fraying where it meets the necklace end clasps. Normally used on more fancy occasional wear jewellery pieces.

Bead Bumpers

Use Bead Bumpers instead of knots to separate and add interest to designs. Simply string one Bead Bumper in between each bead of a design to space beads evenly. Once incorporated, the Bumpers look similar to a knot and keep the beads from rubbing against one another. Since Bead Bumpers are made of a special stretch material, they can be added to Beadalon wires up to .024” in diameter. These Bead Bumpers are also great for Memory Wire designs where you want to have a knotted, or tin-cup style look. Customize earring findings with Bead Bumpers to hold beads in place.
